Zoë has recently graduated with
Distinction from her Masters degree in Human Ecology
from the University of Strathclyde, prior to that she
gained a BSc in Anthropology from UCL. She is especially
concerned with conservation, spirituality and human
interaction with the environment writing her thesis on
‘Despair, denial or damned lies? The politics and
poetics of climate change communication’.
A trained actor and musician (she plays drums and piano)
she’s recently been presenting a series for National
Geographic called ‘Treks in a Wild World’. The last
three ‘treks’ were to Albania, The Eastern Caribbean and
The Cape Verde Islands.
In 2006 Zoë was the lead actor for Big Intent Theatre
Company in their 12 month production Free For All, a
show about the history of the abolition of slavery. The
tour started in the UK and ended in Freetown, Sierra
Leone. She has also spent several years as Singer in
residence for Opera North Education in Leeds and
volunteers at The Helen Bamber Foundation, leading song
writing workshops with refugees, asylum seekers and
victims of abuse and torture.
A keen and effective campaigner, Zoë’s other interests
include diving (she’s PADI qualified), rock climbing,
horse riding, rowing, canoeing and mountaineering. She’s
also experienced in dance (samba, basic salsa and tap)
and speaks conversational French and Italian.
