Claire Halsey has been working as a chartered clinical psychologist for over 30 years in the public sector, the NHS and privately. She is also a writer and broadcaster specialising in parenting, child development and child psychology.
As a parenting expert, she has delivered an on-screen parenting programme in the ITV 1 series ‘Driving Mum and Dad Mad’ and dealt with family issues in the Bio Channel’s ‘Chawners’ Last Chance.’ Online, she’s contributed to practical parenting videos as part of the Department of Education’s Parentchannel.tv parent information initiative.
Claire started writing for the public over 20 years ago whilst working as a clinical psychologist in Western Australia. Since then she’s written books, magazine articles, answered parenting questions online and in print and provided expert comment for numerous magazines and newspapers.
She thoroughly enjoys writing and specialising in covering children’s development, behaviour and emotional well-being as well as anything and everything about being a parent from pregnancy onwards.
Commenting on and discussing psychological issues on the air has been an important part of her work over the past 15 years.
She’s worked with government, charitable and commercial companies to provide on-air psychological expertise on a variety of children’s and family issues such as :

Providing a full day of radio interviews for the Department for Children, Schools and Families alcohol campaign, which encouraged young people to develop a safe and sensible relationship with alcohol.
Supporting Cycle England’s Bikeability launch with a radio day and report.
Providing various commercial contributions, including a radio day on the ‘Persil 11 Stages of Motherhood’ campaign and the ‘Flora Active Play’ campaign.
