Consultancy
Has run her own company since 1987. Trains, coaches and
leads seminars on presentation skills, media skills,
voice technique, motivation and handling difficult
interactions. 1995-2002 clients include the Labour
Party (election campaign), MD and board directors of
Thorn, CEO and board directors of Thomas Cook, MD and
board directors of Habitat, Deputy Chairman and board
directors of John Lewis, directors of Rover, directors
of BAA, CEOs and board directors of several NHS trusts,
Chairman and principal members of the Royal College of
Surgeons and TV newsreaders for Meridian and West
Country TV.
Writing
Four books published by Piatkus including ‘Your Total
Image’ and ‘Total Confidence’. Large contribution to
Reader’s Digest reference book ‘How To Write and Speak
Better’. Articles published in training journals and
national press: The Times, Mail on Sunday, Sunday
Express, The Express and Cosmopolitan. Wrote and
presented BBC 1 TV series ‘Tomorrow The World’ on
confidence building. Her first book for Hodder Headline
‘Irresistibility’ was published in March 2000 and
serialised by The Times. It has already been translated
into 12 other languages including Japanese, Norwegian
and German. Her second book for Hodder entitled ‘Get Up
and Grow’ was published towards the end of 2001 and is
also doing well internationally. Her third title for
Hodder ‘eureka-making brilliant ideas happen’ was
published in August 2004 and paperback version in May
2005.
Broadcasting
Along with above mentioned TV series and BBC Business
Skills video, Philippa also wrote and presented her own
radio series ‘Speaking Up’ for Radio 5. She has also
made over a hundred other TV and radio broadcasts as a
presenter or expert commentator. She has also
contributed to the BBC’s recent and well-received
Blair/Brown documentary and is currently filming a new
show for ITV1 which will be broadcast later this year.
Conference Speaking
Speaks in Europe and Britain for Glaxo, Allied Dunbar,
Pansophic, BT, Gatehouse Conferences, City Women’s
Network, Women In Management and Oxford University Law
Society.
Education
BA Hons in Drama, Hull University.
MSc in Organisational Psychology, London University.
Advanced Diploma in Voice Studies, Central School of
Speech and Drama. She is completing her Phd thesis on
the psychology of creativity and collaboration, to be
awarded next year (MPhil level already completed). She
has been a guest speaker at the Judge Institute of
Management at Cambridge University, Oxford University
Law Society and Warwick University. Next year she is
collaborating and researching with Cardiff University
Business School to develop an MBA standard programme for
managers in the creative industries. For seven years
she was a Samaritan-in-charge at the Central London
branch of the Samaritans.
